Indeed, doctors from the Stanford School of Medicine conducted a study published in Social Neuroscience. The researchers compared the brain activity of 22 children, girls and boys, aged 6 to 13 years. The first group watched funny videos, the second of the "positive" clips, the third of the "neutral" videos. The children then recorded the videos, and indicated if it had made them laugh. It turned out that the emotional brain of little girls (associated with the reward: the amygdala), was more responsive to comic videos. Boys, on the other hand, were more interested in "positive" videos.
"Our data, for the first time, reveal that sexual differences in the appreciation of humor already exist in young children," say the authors of the study.
Can we deduce that, if they are biologically receptive to humor, would women preferably choose a partner who makes them laugh as a potential father to their children?
